Subliminal advertising has been popular ever since the fifites and sixties due to the now famous “james vicary cinema subliminal tudies. Possibly the best known examples of subliminal advertising around the world are the coca cola subliminal advertising campaigns
Here’s a quick fact on coca cola – a survey was done, which found the term “coca cola” itself to be the 2nd most recognized word in the word – right behind the international phrase “OK”
How much of this has been down to their subliminal ads is unknown, but ould Coca Cola really go to all the trouble of placing suggestive and often sexual subliminals across their media, products and advertising if it did not give them any benefit?
Sadly the corporate doors of coca cola remain shut, and they stay tight lipped about any subliminal suggestions they are accused of using, and we don’t have access to their marketing strategy, or any information to say if they have conducted tests into subliminal advertising and it’s effectiveness over traditional, overt methods. But everything about Coca Cola is planned down to the minute detail, so it is not likely to be an accident that these suggestions find themselves there – for example the minute detail of the shape of the bottle – even that is in the hour glass shape of a woman!
Why Does Coca Cola Do This?
Well there are several reasons, but generally the consensus is that their subliminal persuasion tactics help them to link their brand strongly in your mind to qualities such as youth, fun, and of course sex!
One classic example of this is that if you turn a Cola can upside down there is a reference remaining to their history of using cocaine as an ingredient – you can make a face out of the lettering, a face which is snorting a line of cocaine – linking them to youth, danger, and even glamour.
If Coca Cola can use subliminal messages then so can you – to improve your life and send positive messages straight into your mind. View our wide range of subliminal cds here.
